Opening Hymn: choose a suitable hymn

Reading

A way into the Future is not so much about a series of action steps as it is about putting on the mind of Jesus, something which will lead to a new consciousness, a mindset that we are invited to. If we are to be open to a Jesus way of seeing and living, we have to be open to living in a context that allows this to happen. It is when we are most vulnerable that we become most aware. That is why our involvement with people at the margins can be a time and space of real insight into the Mystery we call God.

Prayer

O God of beginnings, as your Spirit moved over the face of the deep on the first day of creation, move with us now in our time of newness, when the air is rain-washed, the bloom is on the bush, and the world seems fresh and full of possibilities, and we feel ready.

We tremble on the edge of a maybe, a first time, a new thing, a tentative start, and the wonder of it lays its finger on our lips.

In silence, Lord, we share now our eagerness and our uneasiness about this something different we would be or do; and we listen for your leading to help us separate the light from the darkness in the change we seek to shape and which is shaping us.

Take some moments now for quiet reflection.

  • What is being born in me?
  • I am constantly being offered something new.
  • I can accept this or reject it
  • What am I doing?
