RENEWAL/SABBATICAL PROGRAMS
INDIA
MUNNAR-PARIKAMA, a 15 day experience of The Spirit Moving in our Midst – 1-15 December 2012
This programme aims at affording its participants the opportunity to deepen and broaden, in shared experience, what the Spirit infused in our delegates at 2008 Congregation Chapter held in Munnar. Participants, who would be brothers and others in the ERN, will explore other religions and cultures, ways of being Church, meditation, cosmology, alternative medicine, social and eco-justice initiatives, creative ritual and liturgy. These will be offered in a balance of personal and group interactions. The hope is that a person already engaging in the struggle to live out the challenges of a spirituality that is emerging from the movement of the Spirit in their lives and work, will be encouraged with new energy, insights, direction and wisdom to keep on networking and journeying along the path of discovery in deeper and more creative ways.
The word ‘pari-krum-ah’ is Sanskrit for circumambulation or ‘journey-ing the path surrounding something’. It refers to an ancient Hindu spiritual practice of a prayer-walk to surrender to and discover anew the spirit/deity of that which is being walked around e.g. a temple, a river, a mountain, a fire, a tree, etc.
The programme will consist of 3 stages:
1st Stage: Inviting the Spirit in our midst
7 days in Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka, a state in southern India.
2nd Stage: Encountering the Spirit (Pilgrimage to an Immersion site)
3 days living in an Ashram with an opportunity to see a few social justice sites, Ecological sites, Centres of alternative medical practice, and non-Christian places of worship.
3rd Stage: Recognising the Spirit (Final stage)
Assembling in Munnar (at a conference centre) for 5 days for facilitated sessions to explore the wisdom encountered, personalize it and take it into the future.
The cost of the programme is Euro 900 or equivalent and covers all accommodation, meals, transport, entrance fees, and facilitation materials, from being met at the start of the programme to being dropped off at the airport or railway station at the end of the programme. Accommodation will be in single rooms in religious centres and hotels.
This programme is conducted by the Indian Province Renewal team supported by resource personnel from the congregation and others.

The 'Be The Change' symposium
[A number of Brothers in Ireland and England have taken part in the Symposium and then attended Training Days in order to gain the skills and resources to run the Symposiums]
"The most critical issue, and the greatest opportunity, of our time......and what you can do about it.
The Symposium takes a fresh look at our most critical current concerns - environmental sustainability, social justice and spiritual fulfilment - and explores and exposes what connects them. A unique, one-day workshop experience, it offers insight into the nature of our world, with leading-edge information, dynamic group interaction and inspiring video clips from some of the world's most respected thinkers and doers, including Paul Hawken, Desmond Tutu, Julia Butterfly Hill, Brian Swimme and Thomas Berry.
The aim of the Symposium is to explore how, by pulling together on an unprecedented scale, we can move in a new direction, towards an era of interconnected action and collective wellbeing. If you are ready to be disturbed, inspired and moved to action - if you are ready to be introduced to a thriving community of like-hearted, deeply committed people - we invite you to come to this Symposium.
The Symposium was created in the United States by The Pachamama Alliance, who generously gifted it to Be The Change. Events continue to take place across USA and Britain, as well as in Holland, Belgium, Ireland, Sweden and Australia!

INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS E-COURSE
Acting Justly
An on-line course offered by Edmund Rice International to raise awareness about more effective global action for justice.
Within the broader purpose of contributing to the building of a more just and sustainable world where all enjoy dignity, equality, and freedom, the general aim of the course is to:
+ assist in developing an “advocacy” mindset to complement the “service” or “charity” mindset within the Edmund Rice Network
+ promote a greater understanding of the work of Edmund Rice International
+ promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Catholic Social Justice tradition and understanding of the ideals and work of the United Nations and of the contribution both can make to the building of a more just world.
No prior knowledge is assumed, and whilst it is meant to be informative and interesting it is not an academic course. Best of all it is free and you can work through the material at your own pace.
It is designed for busy people who would like a basic understanding of how organisations such as ERI can work within the UN system to bring about improved outcomes for the most vulnerable people on our planet and for our earth itself.
The course is divided into eight topics containing material for reading and reflection, some questions for discussion and an opportunity for chat with like-minded people around the world (an optional feature), some suggestions and guidelines for engaging in a simple exercise in advocacy of your own choosing, and some quizzes to test your own understanding. There are no marks or grades associated with the course.
You are welcome to sign up and work through the course individually (each topic takes about two hours to work through). or better still to form a group and work through it together.
The course is open to anyone and there is no charge for participating but to access it you will need to register. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. indicating your preferred username (all lowercase with no spaces), and the name of the town or city and the country where you live. Columbia's M.Div. program challenges students to look anew at Christian tradition and reflect upon its contemporary significance. It thus prepares them to transform that reflection into action in ministry with the people of God. From critical perspectives-biblical, historical-doctrinal, and practical-faculty and students examine the crucial challenges of ministry today. Biblical studies, theology, worship, church history, and pastoral leadership provide the grounding for dynamic ministry.

Your sabbatical, your time! New Directions offers men and women, priests, religious, and laity, the flexibility to design their sabbatical experience from a variety of options. Your fellow participants are persons with years of experience in ministry who desire to integrate and deepen their spirituality in order to prepare for the next phase of their lives. Here, they find a balance of personal reflection, relaxation and renewal, and updating in theology and spirituality.
Mdiv - The Master of Divinity is a three-year academic and professional degree that meets the needs for both academic training and pastoral experience of those preparing for pastoral ministry in the Roman Catholic Church in the U.S. To accomplish this purpose, the Jesuit School of Theology provides courses of instruction in theology and related disciplines, introduces students to the use of source materials and the practice of scholarly work and investigation, and provides opportunities for supervised experience in pastoral ministry. The M.Div. degree is the ordinary course of theological education and training for those preparing for ordination to presbyteral ministry.

Midlife and beyond continues to inwardly beckon us to become more and more who we are called to be. It is an invitation to rediscover our true identity as individual persons, Christians and as Religious Ministers. It is a summons to enter into the core of our being for personal and cosmic transformation.
The six-week program offers participants the time, the space and the guidance to step back from their ordinary chronos activities into the kairos moment of the Sabbath. This special time is an invitation to take that long, loving look in thanksgiving for one’s life and ministry to embrace our present and to look with hope to all that is yet to come.

Bat Kol Institute exists to foster Jewish Studies, defined as study of the Word
of God (Torah) within its Jewish milieu, using Jewish sources, ancient and modern, with the help of Jewish and Christian scholars. Our Reason for these studies is that Christianity is rooted in Judaism as a plant is rooted in the earth; it cannot live apart from the soil in which it is planted.
